My 2024 CPKC Holiday Train Chase: The Film Shots

Okay, okay. One more blog post about the 2024 CPKC Holiday Train chase.

See, in addition to shooting with my digital Nikon Df workhorse, I also broke out several film cameras along the route. And since those film shots have to be developed before I could share them with all of you … that means this post took a little longer to write.

No matter.

So here’s what I’ve got.

This is a nice slideshow of various photos captured by my Nikon F2S camera (“Nikon Athena”) during the CPKC Holiday Train’s show last week in Menands.

Enjoy.

The next day, I broke out my Krasnogorsk FT-2 (“Raskolnikov”) for some super-ultra-wide shots. And although I didn’t get the greatest images out of Raskolnikov – I think the camera needs an adjustment at lower shutter speeds – I did get this nice wraparound shot.

Yep, got the train, got the station, got the crossing sign, got a red blur from the lights on the crossing sign. I mean, it’s not Competition Season-worthy, but it’s still a nice shot.

And now … my 2024 CPKC Holiday Train chase is complete.

And it’s time to plan for 2025. And I have some ideas for some shots for 2025 – some I wanted to get this year and couldn’t, others that sort of “popped up” when my 2024 Chase was in gear.

Can not wait.

I repeat.

Can not wait.
